Will diet and exercise negatively effect your ability to fall pregnant?

With the correct diet and exercise practices in place you can actually improve your ability to fall pregnant, in many cases of PCOS for example, the first line of treatment is looking at improving lifestyle factors in order to improve insulin levels, which can help re regulate your cycle. This involves creating the correct nutritional plan and exercise plan in order to rebalance your hormones and health.

However if your nutrition does not support your hormonal health and your exercise volume and load are out of balance with your nutrition, sleep and general lifestyle then you can and will run into difficulties. Hypothalamic amenorrhea is one of the main concerns here. It is a condition which occurs when the hypothalamus, a gland in the brain that regulates body processes, slows or stops releasing gonadotropin- releasing hormone (GnRH), the hormone that starts the menstrual cycle. This can becaused by psychological stress, excessive exercise, disordered eating or a combination of these factors resulting in suppression of the hypothalamic–pituitary–ovarian axis and a loss of menstrual function.

You see diet and exercise are very powerful tools when it comes to our overall health, especially our ability to get pregnant. This is why at the curve we focus on creating the right healthy habits in order to support you in whatever your goals.
