At what age does your fertility decrease?

There are many individual factors when it comes to a couples ability to conceive but from a general perspective women tend to be most fertile in their late teens early 20s. This is the time when you have the highest number of good quality eggs available, AML hormone levels are higher and your pregnancy risks are lowest. At age 25, your odds of conceiving after 3 months of trying are just under 20%.

Fertility declines with age due to two factors: a decrease in egg count, and a decrease in egg quality. The decline in egg count and quality is much steeper in a woman’s late 30s. That’s why the impact of age-related fertility decline is strongest after age 35. By age 35, your odds of conceiving after 3 months of trying are about 12%.

There’s a steep decline in a woman’s ability to get pregnant naturally in her 40s. At age 40, your odds of conceiving after 3 months of trying are around 7%.
